Yep, like Mike said, they are fine. If you have too many than you have too many nutrients....kinda like the small feather dusters. If you watch your import/export ratios they will level themselves off into balance.
But simply put, they are fine....But watch out for them when your hands are in the tank.....takes a while to pull out all the spurs when you accidentally grab one !

I think it's FlyGuy on here that had a ridiculously huge one in his tank....thing was something like 12-14" long. That worm was scary looking and I'm sure it could eat a slow animal.
Try looking for that picture if you want to see a crazy big bristle.
