Adding Base Rock???

I have a friend that is going to give me his old dried out live rock. He broke down his tank a year or two ago and kept all his live rock. I was wondering if i can add that to my tank as base rock. Should I wash the rock off really well? Should i soak it? Should i not even attempt this at all ha ha? I'm just not sure. I recently added live rock to my tank and had a nitrate spike due to the die off and then an outbreak of the "SLIME" ha ha. I'm not really interested in creating another situation and stressing out my fish AGAIN.
Please Advise

Yes you can. I would rinse it off well. Everything should be dead on the rock aleardy. Just make sure he didnt treat his tank with copper or anything like that if thats the case I would not use the rock.

DO NOT add the rock directly to your tank. Cure it again in a trash can, as it will cause another cycle.
