Either there is a lot of lazy people that don't want to mix a powder with water or there is a lot of people that money must not be an object.
The other option is they didn't know about it.

Cody, since going to a new media (Rowa C+) we've experienced some probs dialing in the desired numbers to maintain a 400 + calc level.
We have tremendous growth and are still using Tropic Marin Pro (which I believe has a lower Ca). When we run out of TM, we will probably use Reef Crystals.
We've used a home remedy before for part 1 and may go back to it again in the future.
Don't use the part 2 as we still continue to drip Kalkwasser.

I honestly wonder why anyone would run a calcium reactor, I don't think I ever will because its easier and cheaper to just run a 2 part with an auto doser.

A well set up CR is fantastic. However, it does require some adjustments on occasion. Higher demand as the coral grow or media in the chamber running low. I would actually perfer to drip only if I could but my calcium demand is too high so I do both. I use a 2 part to make adjustments about every two weeks. If I only used 2-part then I would make my own.

Cody, to each their own, but I know when we were using a courser media, i.e., A.R.M., we had things pretty well dialed in... like "set it and forget it" with maybe a weekly dose of Reef Buffer...
I think the Duud uses the same media (Rowa C+) and is getting excellent results.

I had some problems with reef crystals when i used it. It was mixing at a very high AK like >13 DkH. Could of been a bad batch. I switched to Red Sea Coral Pro Salt and it works great. At 1.026 it mixes at around 450 ppm Ca and 8-9 DkH.
Another problem with the Reef Crystals is that a lot of the chemical additives leave a film residue in your mixing bucket.
Just my two cents.

I love TM Pro but I can not find it locally anymore so I too switched to Reef Crystals. I got the same Ca result but my alk was 10 at 1.026
I found it mixed clear and I had no film. Maybe you did get a bad batch gc1615. I was reading that most salts start with IO and build from there. With IO I did have a film and sediment on the bottom of my mixing can.
