mollies can be (supposedly) acclimated to salt water
|
Yep they can, I was too cheap to buy more expecive fish, so I tried it, had a silver sailfin molly for 2 years in my tank. Color got a lot brighter too. Became almost perl like in color.
Fish that can be breed in captivity, peppermints shrimp, Bengal Cardinals ( mouth brooders), well, clowns, pipefish, seahorses.

Yep, not easy without special equipment, but think it can be done. working on that one myself, and just bought a pair of bengal cardinals, the LFS said they were captive breed, and am going to try it myself as soon as they grow up.

Cleaner shrimp, peppermint shrimp, fire shrimp have all been done by someone in australia i believe. I know they have been done, just not sure where the local was. It was a hard long process and they are in larval stages forever, especially the cleaner shrimp.

I have a mated pair of black and white percs, that have spawned a couple times. Don't feel I have the time to make green water, and rotifers, and brine shrimp, so I have not pursued the spawnings. I have however ordered a pair of Banghaii Cardinals, and a pair of pearly jawfish. I would like to breed the cardinals, and if the jawfish do, then great...but I have read nothing about raising fry at this point. The cardinals seem like they are alot easier to rear, as the Daddy does 90% of the work. They are still a little touchy though from about 6-10 days, after that, they are as easy as any other fish to feed. If I get them spawning, I will post a thread of my anguish, and or success!!

I know the feeling. my peppermint shrimp spawned 9 days ago, and there is a lot of work to keeping them alive. WC, feeding, general matinance, etc.
Luckly there are many new products on the market that make it a lot easier to provide foods without having to grow it all yourself. If the point is to try and make money off the spawn, then growing your own will become nessesary, as the food stuffs are not cheap. But if you just want to do it to say that you did or maybe break even, it can be the way to go. firts, many LFS now carry DT's live Phytoplankton, the bottom rung in the food chain. This is a concentrated greenwater. Next food size up is the DT's frozen Oyster eggs. Next is RotiFeast by reef nutrition, which is a concentrated rotifer liquid enhanced with some vitamins, There is also E.S.V. sprydried phytoplankton. It is a little bit bigger than the live greenwater, so it is easier for the fry to get a good meal from. Further up the food size list is the decapsulated brine shrimp eggs. I use a brand known as Life A by Aquline Germany. these because they are decapsulated, can be fed without hatching. any left over hatch in a day or two and Reef Nutrition sells many other food items, in both large and small sizes, including live copepods. There are I'm sure many other food products on the market that will allow the grow out of larve without the need to grow your own food. The only problem with many of these prepared foods is that in the concentrations required to feed the fry, they can quickly foul a tank, so be prepaired to do lots of WC. I just yesterday had to do a 50% WC on the shrimp growout tank. So far So good. I setup to grow phytos only at the moment, and haven't feed phytos in a bit as they seem to be liking other foods. I hope I can keep them going.

I think it would be possible to breed catsharks in captivity if one had a large enough tank.
