True Perc Breeding Behavior
I have a pair of True Percs that have been mated up for more than 18 months now. It is very obvious which one is the female at this point. They have not begun laying eggs yet but I have seen many of the mating behaviors, such as their little "dance", recent cleaning of a surface to bare rock near their anemone and the male getting his fins shredded by the females behavior. Is it normal for the female to not let the male back into the anemone for hours on end near time for breeding? She has started doing this just over the last few days. She keeps him 5 or 6" away. She lets him in sometimes during the day and always at night.
