Hi, A lot of freshwater shrimp fry start in a larvae stage that requires a transplant from FW to SW until they complete there larval stages.
What I want to do is make a SW nursery for them but I can't afford all the lighting, skimmers and all the other whistles that go with a full blown Reef tank. I can get live rock, Whole and pieces, live sand and premixed RO water to the right SG. Can I get by with just LR, LS and a clean up crew?
What other "low light" SW tank options do I have?
I haven't started to put this together yet except I have the 20g tank with the stock fluorescent light. and a good "bio-
wheel filter...Penguin 400 I think. I will be wrapping the filter siphon with a sponge to keep my
baby shrimp from entering the filter...With this it acts like a prefilter so not much else makes it into the actual filter, Can I just fill the filter cartrige area with some of the small pre-bagged bacteria growing media...IE..ceramic balls, sponges..ect.
I've never done anything with SW befor so please any and
ALL comments are requested.
Sincerely
Rick From Upstate NY
