I would restart a tank for each batch of babies... the brine in the tank are competing for food also. do you pour your rots thru a screen? that can stir up the gunk on the bottom. I turn off the air for a minute to settle it all out and siphon thru a hose into the screen. Keep the hose off the bottom of the tank or bucket, ect as that will pull crud also. I keep the hose about 2/3 of the way down while draining out rots. thru screen into bucket, pour bucket back in (unless doing a water change).

I use a 53 mesh screen from Florida Culture Farms! also I guess I can try to pull out some of the small brine that are in the tank now...I have the eggs already In there holding tank and I hate to disturb them anymore.Ill trun off the pumps in the roti tank and see how many I can add into the new larvae tank.

you can get different screen sizes from FAF.. I have the 53 and a 120 and also like a 400. you could use a larger screen that will snag brine and leave the rots. are you talking a couple brine or hundreds??

as far as lighting,, I don't leave them with no light. they are on the same lighting schedule as the parents, I just place light weight towels over the tank to dim it out for them... make sure you black out the sides of the tank also will help with hatching. (the light) if you are running low on rots you can turn the lights out, they use less energy at night, vs. hunting for food that isn't there. just watch the babies and if they do head stands or all are on the bottom of the tank you may want to darken it up a little and get them back in the water column. if you cant get your rot density up, you can always get a larger culture vessel and harvest larger amounts.
5 gallon buckets work.

WELL kinda weird about 25 out of about 200 hatched last night. Is this normal for not all to hatch in one night....I had about 15 of 25 alive this morning!

yes, they can hatch out over two nights.. congrats on the babies..
as long as the eggs don't go white you have a shot at them hatching the next night. good luck

white=dead mainly caused by poor circulation caused by not enough air over or near the eggs to move water. they develop a fungus, the male would remove dead eggs if he was still tending them.

I don't use it in the larval tanks. I just do small water additions, and changes (cleaning the bottom of the tank while doing changes). I start off with enough water to cover the eggs in a 10 gallon tank. then drip in fresh saltwater slowly over a few days to bring them up. less water with the same amount of Rots= more prey for the larvae. they aren't spread out.
I guess you could try using the chemicals amquel, ect. in the tank with larvae, just haven't needed to. I just don't add anything if I don't have too. I guess I'm paranoid. don't do anything with the water for the first 3 days or so. they are really touchy at first. live phyto and rots and a small amount of air for some circulation and a heater that works
