well I scooped them up last night I guess about 20 of them...and boy I hope she lays on the tile next time...this is pretty hard to do....
I put them in my holding tank about 2 gallons with about 2 bubbles per second....temperature was 78 and belive it or not my heater broke...I woke this morning and it was down to 70 and a few were dead? Im not sure this is from the 7 degree water change or not??? also I wasn't for sure how much to feed them so I added alot of rotifers and had a light on them all night? do you think the light could have caused issues being on that long???
any help is appreciated
Joe

I'm sure the 70 degree water didn't help anything.....
as far as light, Mine are on the same light cycle as the parents. If you have too much light for them you can put something over the tank to help. I use egg crate and put a thin towel to dim it. Did you put any phyto in the tank when you put the rots in? live phyto in the tank will feed the rots till they are eaten. after a few hours a rot with no food is nearing useless to the baby clowns. remember-- not too green on the phyto. especially if you put dead phyto in the tank as it will foul the water if not consumed by rots. enjoy!!

Try to keep your larval water at about 80 degrees. Also if you have not lowered the salintiy you should try to slowly lower the salinity to about 1.020. High salinity stresses the larva & makes it difficult to regulate the water in the fish. If you are using live phyto it is good to have a small amount of phyto in the tank with the rotifers. If the rotifers are not feeding when they are eaten by the larva then they have no nutritional value. Have you looked into the clownfishes book by wilkerson yet? It explains every aspect of larval care & breeding that you are experiencing now but you can always keep asking questions.

I transfered her eggs last night to the holding tank..The eggs didn't hatch last night but I think they will tonight....I had 1 clown survive the first batch but I wasn't 100% ready so that was expected...this bach I hope to have better luck with....
should I get some of the amonia stuff for the water??
also I added the new larvae in a tank with rotifers & small nauplii so hopefully the small nauplii won't bother them? The one clown left from my 1st nest is doing good and eating the small nauplii. what else will he eat?
also I have 3 cultures of rotifers but not alot of them I may have to get some overnighted in to try to keep the babies alive?
any suggestions on keeping a rotifer culture going to were there will be a ton in the water????Im yet to use amonia

there are only a couple things I do with Rots. room temp about 64 (basement) rigid air line, no stone, not alot of flow, you dont want a boil.
feed lightly... slight green tint. I use rotifer HD from Reed. there is amquel + and other stuff you can add to the water to take out ammonia. I really don't use it.. I have two 5 gallon tanks going. every week I drain about 90 percent of the water out thru a 53 micron screen and add those rots to the other tank. then clean the empty tank out and add fresh saltwater. add some phyto, and some lemon or lime juice to drop the PH a little... and scoop rots thru the screen again to add to the freshly cleaned tank. I harvest about half of each tank and feed to babies. pour the water back in after you screen the rots out. next day I take from the other batch.
If you haven't looked into Otohime you should. It is the first "not alive" foods they will take and are graded by size... "A" being about the size of a fresh hatch brine. oh- back to rots.. if you feed morning and night, it shouldn't be green at the next feeding. if so-- tooo much food.
that will kill of rots, especially using "dead" algae

I harvested my own phyto Im assuming it is good it takes about 7 days to turn dark green...I have been using that & roti-ritch but seems there is alot of detrius a few days after using that..were is the best place to get the food you mentioned...I also have baby brine in the tank now with the larvae, will this hurt anything when they hatch??? Im going to stick to the live phyto, seems to be much cleaner water with it...also when you dump the rotis in the micro screen and put it in the larvae tank it seems to be adding dirty stuff from the screen?(does that make sense)?
