first batch of eggs


my clonwnfish laid their first batch of eggs tonight, well im asuming tongiht since i havent been home in three days and they are orange right now. the problem is that it is earlier than expected and need something to feed them. i am fimiliar with rotifers and how to do it and all that but i wont have a rotifer colture until friday or maybe later. is there anything else i can feed these guys when they hatch and when do you usually move the eggs to the grow out tank?

well congrats, for starters. I'm not sure when to move the eggs out, but I suspect you can do so at this point. If you don't have rotifers ready, though, I'd probably just hold out until the next round. Once the clowns get into a normal cycle, you should have another batch every 11 days I think. Also, I've read that the first couple batches have very few healthy fish hatch, so if you're hoping for a large fry I'd wait a couple rounds.

when they lay eggs should you turn off all pumps in the tank?

You need to remove the eggs the afternoon they are going to hatch and place in a nursery tank, have the rots ready to feed, The think about rots is, you can start feeding the day you get your live culture.
