clownfish breeding question

I'm going to give it a shot. I have a mated pair on the way, complete with a nice chunk of LR and the anemone that they are "attached" to....

they will be the initial inhabitants in an 80 gallon.

Two questions:

1. lighting- fowlr, maybe some softs....I have Halides from a previous "reef tank"....what do I need to keep the clowns, anemone and LR happy....I would rather not "Pound them" with my 600 watts of halide.

2. If I have other inhabitants in the tank will that freak them out and stop them from laying? can I have critters, other fish etc...

thank you

This kind of leads to my question. I was told when I bought my maroons that I would not be able to have any other clowns even if they were from the same maroon species. So what would happen to all the offspring once born?

Also I have heard that you need to raise the babies in a seperate tank. If the the only thing in the tank is the clowns, is this still the case?

Thanks.
Nick

Yes i think maroon clowns especially will even kill their own offspring. Also the reason for them being brought up in a seperate tank is mainly because of feeding... First like week you need to feed the babies green water then for a couple more weeks you feed them baby brine shrimp (live) then you switch to the food of your choice. The babies of maroons especially WILL fight, they are viscious little clowns. Someone on this site i think has a video on youtube showing his baby maroon clownfish fighting. ill post it in your lighting thread.

That video was viscous! I knew I liked em... Im not going to try an breed them, as much as I was curious since I purchased the mated pair. I hope they use protection!

If You want a breeding pair I would recommend Occelaris. They are much easier to breed and easier to raise IMO!
