Clown and/or Cardinal Fish

We have a 75 gal. fish only tank with 2 clown and 2 cardinal fish, as well as others, that we have had for approx. nine months. We would like to try our hand at breeding and raising. We have a new 20 gal. tank we'd like to use for this purpose. We were looking at moving the 2 clown and 2 cardinals to the new tank and set up a breeding tank OR just moving the 2 clowns over to a breeding tank OR moving the 2 clowns over and adding 1 or 2 pairs of different type clowns (the ones we have are just your basic clown). Can any or all of these ideas work successfully for breeding and raising? What do we need to set the 20 gal. tank up with, ie. equipment, items to make it breeder friendly, water temp, anemones sp?, tiles, shells, lights, water flow, filters? (probably not a good idea?), food, romantic music (hee, hee), sandy bottom or what, what else? Is there a good book out there for breeding or a good website for info? I don't know a lot of your abbreviations, so if you could explain a little more thoughly I'd appreciate it. Thank you.
Marie

Amazon.com: Clownfishes: Books: Joyce D. Wilkerson

A good place to start. I think the ides is to have a basic tank with some type of hard surface to lay eggs on with only the clowns in it. My pair laid several batches of eggs, but I only tried to raise 1 and failed. good luck.

The clownfish book by Joyce wilkerson is a must if you are going to try to breed your clownfish. I have read it a few times now. The ocellaris clowns that I am raising my larvae from lay the eggs in a flower pot. You are going to have to be prepared to seperate the larvae from the parents when they hatch or they will be eaten. Wilkerson's book describes all this or feel free to keep asking & I'll help all I can.

Get a DSB with LR from the LFS and put MH's or PC's over it. Keep it as a FOWLR.

HAHA! Just joking. Read Joyce Wilkerson's book. It's really helpful.
