Tigger's not doing well
I don't think so anyways... he just hitches, he won't hunt, that I've seen, and he's thin. I've ordered pods and live mysid from Paul but they can't ship til monday so that I'm sure to get it the day it arrives... if they shipped it this week it would have more than likely arrived friday or saturday, thus sitting in the mailbox til sunday night. I sure hope he hangs on til the new yummies arrive, maybe I can fatten him up a bit. Lucy seems fine. I'm just a worry wart I guess...

well a few months back I ordered pods and live mysid, but that stuff disappeared the instant it hit the tank (in the rocks). I don't see pods on the glass at night, and I'm thinking maybe the two horses have cleaned the tank out?
They have never eaten frozen, I've never once seen it. About two weeks ago I put in live brine as a treat and he didn't even seem interested in that... I thought they could starve to death in a matter of a couple days tho? If that's true then he must be eating?
I got Tigger in feb, and he is a captive raised (wild dad) horse. I know, I know, tank raised is better (but not if you talk to the big butt that owns that particular lfs).
So I figure I can only do what I can do... new food is on the way for him, live wigglies to maybe catch his attention!

How is Tigger doing has he eaten anything yet? If your seahorses are not eating frozen, what live foods do you keep on hand for them. Can you get small live ghost shrimp from your LFS. Are you getting your Mysids from Paul at Sachs if so he's a great guy.
Also another good source for live food Is Noni. here is the link to his sight. He also keeps Seahorses so if you explain to him whats up he can help pick out the correct size of snickin shrimp. If I am not allowed to post a link Mods please remove.

After a few days of no food at all they will not be able to feed. You may have to resort to forse feeding him. Its hard but I have saved 2 of mine by doing this. You can find the instructions by doing a search on the emergeny forum at seahorse.org.
I sure hope he pulls through for you.

Hi gang...
well we got home about a half hour ago and Tigger is unfortunantly no longer with us. I'm sad but not surprised, and Lucy is hunting. I hope she is Ok and hopefully she'll fatten up being the only one hunting the live food.
I will not be purchasing any more horses... I have read that one will pine away and hopefully that won't happen with Lucy, but the are more sensitive and I'm not going to buy any more that are not tank raised... and I'm not paying $60 a piece for the ones that are.
I have wanted to try other fishes since I am still pretty new to salt... I had Tigger since february and he did good for quite a while. Please wish Lucy girl the best of luck and I'll get that live food by wednesday according to Paul.
Take care Tigger, you'll be missed!

Jess I'm sorry to hear about Tigger! I'm sure he had a much better life with you than if someone else had gotten him.

I'm sorry you lost your seahorse. It is always a very sad thing indeed to loose a pet. My sympathies for you.
IME seahorses do not pine away after a loss. I kept my reidi for a year and a half after he lost his mate, 5.5 years total, he was an adult WC when I purchased him.
For your remaining seahorse watch closely for infection. Often times seahorses that do not eat are suffering from vibrio. Also the lack of a snick can be related to parasites infecting the snout. If your remaining horse presents any problems please report and treat right away. I'd make sure I had some NEO3 on hand as well as a 10g tank I could use for a QT. JMO.
For live food I always stuck with fresh water ghost shrimp because they are not likely to carry parasites that are often affiliated with salt water shrimp (seawater express's shrimp are gaurenteed parasite free as he raises white shrimp for the food industry). JME.
Also since the question was posed a seahorse can go 5 days without food before I would recommend forcefeeding. JMO
Good Luck.

Bummer about him. most horses don't live more than a few years though so it may have just been his time too. on to other things i guess.
