The 29 will work for many of the seahorses available, as far as the amount and the type of food will depend on the quality of the SH's you purchase. You want SH's that are Tank bred and raised and one that feed on frozen mysis shrimp.

Before taking the leap do lots of research on them and ask questions.

You will also need a chiller to keep a biocube at the appropriate temp ( 74)

I would stay away from tank bred or tank raised and focus on aquacultured. To most people those mean the same things, but many of the tank raised seahorses and tank bred seahorses spend large amounts of time in the ocean in very large nets. While this type of seahorse production is great for the traditional Chinese medicine market, given there growing conditions they are often exposed to parasites that can be untreatable. Buying a seahorse that is aquacultured should not have these problems. There are many private breeders that can supply these and even some companies.

In a 29g I would go with two seahorses to start out with. Getting two females will save you from having to deal with fry. An aquacultured seahorse should come eating frozen mysis readily. I squirt the mysis into a bowl that is glued to a magfloat and the seahorses eat out of there "dish". Easy to clean up after and lessens the chance of them snicking a bristle worm.

they are expensive to purchase because they are expensive to raise. IME anything under 50 is most likely raised in the ocean and full of parisites.

Can you tell me a little bit about how you plan to set up your tank and your plan for emergencies.

In the tank there is 1 pistol shrimp, 1 toadstool,1 coco warm, and 1 anenome that is about to die, and there is some rocke the tank has bbean set up for 4 years.
Right next to it i have a 55g show tank that i converted from fresh to saltwater. It has 2 clowns, 1 watchmen goby, 1 purple fire fish, 1 snail, 8 hermit crabs, 1 emerald crab, 1 tube warm, maney mushrooms, green and bage star polips, and 2 kenyna trees 1 with 6-8 branches and the other 3-4 branches and 2 smller ones on the large rock with the mushrooms.
I have a 20g in my room that has nothing it it at all.
