Seahorse nano?

I am going to be setting up a nano tank for my mom, and i want to do a 6 or a 12 gallon. I was wondering though will either of these be ok for 2 seahorses? Please let me know what type of seahorses would be ok in them...if any. Thanks

Greg

is your mom ready to take care of horses? i would do a 12g if you want regulars. don't do the 6 or you may need to go with dwarfs.

!2 gallons would be a min for H riedi and some of the other seahorses. But even then I think that is small , I would go to a 24 gallon tank, Taller is better and 12 are not all that tall.

The 12g nano JBJ holds 8 gallons of water. It will not handel the bioload of a pair of seahorses.

IMO the 24g Aquapod with a few mods can be a good horse tank, but none of the other prebuilt nano's are suitable.

In a nano seahorses would be a lot of work, is your mom ready for that?

*several* targeted feedings a day, not just feeding a tank.

The bioload would be more then the tank could handel. Using a 12g nano would require daily WC's of at least 5g in order to compensate for the lack of biological filtration.

Translates, possible, but a lot of work.

IMO get her a nice 29g tall, even an eclipse system would work, and let her enjoy the tank is seahorses is wht she wants.
