Pipe fish in a reef?

I orderd three seahorses and 2 pipe fish that will come in this week.

I thought seahorses and pipe fish were compatible (liveaquaria and marinedepot)

Can I have the pipe fish in the Reef tank? It does have about 30 turnover but there is a lot of LR and hiding places. The only problem is that there is not much of a pod population in there and I feed pellets. I really do not want to put mysis in the reef.

??????????????????????????????????????

I don't have a lot of advice here...
if you don't want to feed mysids to the reef i guess put them together, but just be prepared for issues. I wish I had more to give you there

I am guessing so take that with a grain of salt. They MAY be ok in the reef, I dont' know much about pipefish.

Pipefish and seahourse get along but a reeftank has to much flow and hard for them to get food with other fish in the tank(their slow at eatting).

the "pros" ar seahorse.org/.com say not to mix the two. I thought is was ok after reading general info on them but I guess not....

Chris, the reason they say not to is because of diseases. They both carry things that can harm the other as far as I understand. That is why they also suggest not mixing seahorse species or seahorses from different places. These animals are very hard to keep so bylimiting the number of variables and coditions that could introduce pathogens you up your chance of success.
