no more horses for me

I got home today to find Lucy on the bottom with very happy snails...
she was hitched and hunting yesterday, so, well, I'm done, I'm not buying any more.
I did enjoy having them, I really enjoyed them, but they were a hassle with them not eating, buying live food that was never enough... I've let my club know, but then they already know, about the lfs that sold them to me... he's not a popular guy in my club. I wanted to try them though because I could actually afford them, and they were the same species that I always thought was so beautiful (H. Comes). I just can't justify paying $60 per horse at Petco for captive bred horses, even if they do eat.
I'm still new to salt so I'm going to try other fish and critters, and enjoy each of them as I have the horses.

she probably starved, that's my guess. They never did fatten up... horses can be tricky. I don't regret getting them, I just wish I could have afforded captive horses that were proven to eat frozen. I even put a bunch of live brine in there for her, and she was after them, but, well...

Thats the thing about them The brine is not the best diet, And if you do feed You need to powerfeed the brine. The captive bred are the way to go, They eat what ever live they can find and also the frozen Mysis.

I'm sorry you lost your horses.

I do hope you can find other stunning creatures to love and enjoy.

I would encourage everyone on this site in te future to buy CB bred seahorses from a reputable aquaculture facility like Seahorse Source, or Draco. Many horses being sold as CB are actually maricultured seahorses that are bred in the ocean. They have the same risk of parasites and pathogens that WC's do.
