Nanocube for sea horses?

I just upgraded my 24 gal nano to a 29 gal biocube. So the decision has been made by my FOUR year old (ala daddy!) to keep horses in the nano. So I have some questions. Do I keep live rock or dead rock? Can I keep any other corals? My tank runs at around 80-81 degrees because of the lights, is that ok? And is the pump in the nano going to be too strong? Looking forward to the answers and thanks!

the temp is a little high for many horses so be careful which ones you get. I would cook the rock (boil) so it is clean and then place it in there and let it re-populate with bacteria. that will eliminate hydroids if the rest of your system is fresh and new. flow is not a problem but you need to cover all pump intakes or the horses will get sucked in.

The set up is NOT completely new. It has some of the sand from my reef tank in it for cycling purposes. Is that bad? How do you cover the intake on a nano? It has like a grill thing. And what is macro?

What brand of nano?

What type of seahorses?

You will need to drop the temp at least 6 degress. An Iceprobe chiller mod sounds like it is in order.

Don't know yet
what about turning off part of my nano lights? Using only daylight? How much is a chiller?

Try turbing off part of the lights and seeing what the tank temp runs at. You need to get it below 75 IME for long term succsess and prevention of bacterial diseases.

Using daylight can heat up a tank and cause nuissance algae, of course, one of my favorite tanks ever is a window tank that is a 120g, but it has no algae. Kinda depends on where your at.

Chillers runf from $100 and up. There are some specially designed nano chillers or you could look at an ice probe drop in. JMO.
