Seahorses are more prone to bacterial infections at higher temperatures. Or rather, seahorses are just plain prone to bacterial infections, and lower temperatures help suppress/slow bacteria. People have kept seahorses at higher temps, but it is risky. I've heard from some reliable sources that high water flow and pristine water help out a lot if keeping at higher temperatures which is why many breeding facilities can get away with higher temps than hobbiests BUT it only takes one slip up in maintenance to lose your seahorses, which is why its just better to keep them at a lower
temp.
