Feeding Station
I just purchased a seahorse and he is eating frozen mysis shrimp. I have purchased an acrylic feeding station that is suctioned on the side of the tank. I'm wondering what is the best way to teach the seahorse to hitch and eat from the station?

Hi Jennifer
I feed my seahorses from a shell on the bottom of the tank. I use a clear uplift tube for a under ground filter. I cut it so I can put one end in the shell and the other is clear of the tank. I then pour the thawed Mysid shrimp into the tube with a turkey baster, and as the shrimp float down the tube it gets all the horses attention. and they come running, err I mean swimming LOL. Hope that helps.

what kind of station? do you have a picture. most frozen foods float around and can be hard to keep in one place. how have you fed up till now?

I can take a picture of it tomorrow and post it up. I have been feeding him frozen mysis with a turkey baster. I made sure he ate frozen shrimp at the LFS before I bought him and he was eating fine during his first day/night in the tank. Now I can't seem to get him to eat any frozen food. He has been eating pods around the tank today. I'm going to purchase some live food tomorrow to see if he'll eat.

be careful giving live food to a frozen eating horse, I've heard that once some get a taste of live food it's hard to get them back on frozen. How did they feed him at the store? I'd just try to mimic that...

At the store they were giving him live brine shrimp. I asked them to please feed him some frozen food and I stayed there for awhile and watched him eat it. He ate frozen mysis during his first night in my tank. Now he only eats pods around the tank. I put some live brine in the tank now...he follows them around, but doesn't try to eat any. I'm at a loss with him right now, but I'm not giving up!!!!
