could i keep a pipefish


hey everyone i wanted to know if i could keep a pipefish in my aquarium. i have a 45 gallon aquarium with a yellow tang foxface and 2 clownfish. the invertabrates in the tank are one sea cucumber and 1 tuxedo urchin. i also have some things i plan on keeping in the tank an anemone corals 2 peppermint shrimp and 1 cleaner shrimp. i also wanted to know what type of pipefish are hardy and realitviley easy to care for and what would i need in my tank to keep a pipefish? thank you.

I would not. They are very small and slow eater. In a tank with food competition it will be hard for them to thrive. They are usually best kept in a seahorse tank and refugium style display..

Some people say they shouldn't be in a seahorse tank(but I had them together).As for a tank I'd say ok but maybe try to feed them by themself,but mine ate quick(not slow eaters).

Pipefish are definitely better suited in a species tank dedicated to their care. I would not recommend adding them to your current setup.
