20 gallon horse tank

I am ready to start stocking my 20 gallon nano. The plan is ultimatley for a pair of sea horses, either H. erectus; H. Kuda; or H. Redi, once I get some temperature issues resolved. In the meantime what other critters can I add. The tank cycle is over so I am essentially starting from scratch. I am thinking of starting with a zoa colony or two, some nesserus snails, but other than that what else can I add that will live with and not be faster than the seahorses as far as feeding is concerned?

I would concentrate on a good clean-up crew. I have a pair of erectus in my fuge and I spend more time watching them than staring at my reef.
I purchased mine from Jorge at www.dracomarine.org and was more than pleased.

The clean-up crew is critical because seahorses have an incomplete digestive tract and therefore they produce more waste and thus nitrates than most active, large fish.

I keep a couple of shrimp, emeral crabs, large nass (Pacific) snails, scarlet hermits, 5 types of macro algae, feather dusters, a few zoa colonies, couple of acans, a blasto and xenia.

I don't plan on any fish because the horses graze on the pods and are too slow to compete with faster animals for their staple diet - frozen mysis.

I have been told to avoid shrimp with horses, what kind of shrimp do you have? Have you had any problems between the shrimp and the horses?

peppermints shrimp are great with seahorses. Some cleaner shrimp have been observed stressing out there seahorse tank mates by there keepers.

Peps are cool...if you get larger ones. ANY small shrimp could become a halftime snack for a decent sized seahorse. My peppermint shrimp breed often and the fry make great food for raising seahorse ponies

The only other shrimp I use are grass shrimp... as live food treats. I catch them on Cape Cod.
