Worm / Slug or what ?
I have found this hitchhiker on a piece of Colt (pussey) coral that I purchased today.
It is a white almost opaque slug like creature that looks to be completely hollow inside with a large round opening (mouth) at one end that has what looks like four evenly spaced ribs that it uses to close the moth.
The body is bloated slug like but the creature appears to be anchored securely to the rock and does not look like it can move. Its not particularly pretty but I don't know what it is or what it will become. Looking on the internet, the nearest image I can get to it is of an Ascidia Virginea (sea squirt) but that has more "ribs" and is red.
Has anyone any idea what this might be ?
Next Day
The white body seems to be forming a dark outer shell - I have a theory that what I have is a large fan worm that has lost it's head and outer shell protection leaving only the white fleshy part which is now re-forming - would this make sense ?
