I recently discovered something emerging from my live rock. It appears to be a worm of some sort but it is hard to tell because it only comes out at night when all the lights are off and the second the slightest ray of light hits it, it descends back into a hole in the rock. It is living in one particular piece of rock and I have no reason to believe it is travelling from one rock to another becuase it is always in the same rock. Here is what I can tell you about it:
It is grayish/brown (the color of a the bottom of a
feather duster that is what I thought it was at first)
It is segmented, like an earthworm
It is smooth like a snake no bristles my son described it as looking like an elephants trunk
The part I saw was approx. 8-10 inches long but I don't know how much of it was still inside the rock
I do not know if it is dangerous to my fish and or coral but I am missing a 6 line wrasse and a
peppermint shrimp but I do not know if these MIAs are related to this whatever it is. Please help me out. It is driving me insane I need to know how to get rid of it or if it is beneficial to my marine system. So far no one has been able to ID this for me Any help would be greatly appreciated.
