Is this the same worm from your other post? It's a feather duster that's shed it's crown and is coming out of it's tube. Not a good sign. Probably too stressed out from collection & transport.

thats not a feather duster! At least I don't think so...
I'm pretty sure it's a bristle worm. And they are fine for your tank. They are cleaners basically. If you have any dead parts of stuff such as a partially dead clam... be careful cuz they will eat it. lol

Technically all polychaete worms are bristleworms. Polychaete means "many bristles". And really, it is a feather duster without a crown. If you look at Gravey06's other picture you can see the blackish anterior end which is the collar region. It lacks the clusters of fine white bristles and the gills along the sides of the body that would make it a fireworm (which is what most reefers mean by bristleworm).

Yeah thats really not good lol. Try maybe a month or so for it to grow back. Maybe it's just hiding? (You better hope so lol)

i agree, it is a polychaete worm.
if it is a bristleworm it is not the "normal" ones. to chunky. i can easily believe it being an nekked tube worm.

good, i changed ur minds away from thinking it was a feather duster tube, i knew it was some kinda worm, i just threw that one out there... hoping somenone would take a bite and reply! (the pic is kinda fuzzy, at first glance it does look like a very red bristle or a GUMMY worm)

Well to update everyone, what ever it was it died, broke off yestarday night, got home and found a peaice ssitting on the sand bed, sucked it up with the turkey baster and spit it down the drain. Also there seems to be some spounge/funges over the hole now, it a white color, wiht a red pink tint to eat. But thanks for all the help everone, on a side note, i thought it was a worm, not a feather duster personally.

from your latest description, i also think that it was a feather duster, i am just not as good at recognizing them as LeslieH is.
i have never seen a dead bristleworm. i have seen dead feather duster worms though.
