What Do I do now?

So I'm watching my tank tonight and I see what I think is a Bristle Worm coming out of the live rock under my Pulsating Xenia Coral. It's now hiding in the rock, I suppose, because I flipped it over and don't see it. I've moved the rock/coral to a quarantine tank--Now how to I get rid of this worm? Also, Had the coral out of the water for a few minutes which of course it didn't like--did this damage the coral?

When I first setup my tank I bought live rock from someone else and there was some Xenia still on some pieces. They were completely out of the water for a few hours (6-7) but seem fine now. It took them a couple days to come around but now they look as healthy as ever. I would think they would be fine.

A good way to catch worms is to use old leggings or hose. I used some of my wife's hose and put a little bit of food in the bottom and dangled it inside the tank at night for a few hours. i just tied it off at the top. After a few hours I just pulled it out and put it in a plastic bowl and sure enough there were worms on it. Try that and seem if it works.

Welcome to TRT! Xenia is vary hardy if you can get it to grow in your tank. The worms are good but if you have to mant then stop feeding so much and you can try Jagator way,but don't touch them with your bare hands! They have hard hairs like fiberglass and is hard to get them all out!

Bristleworms are a good member of your clean up crew as they are very efficient detritus eaters. Their population will rise and fall based upon how much food is available in the tank for them to eat. They will not harm the Xenia or other corals in your system either. I would put the rock back in the display tank. You are at more risk of getting bristled by picking up and moving the rock he lives in than the coral is of being damaged by the worm.

They may be a little scary to look at, but until they get to be about 2 feet long you shouldn't need to worry about them.

Thanks!

Thanks to all for the reply and advice - as you can tell by my questions I am relatively new in this hobby, which I only wish I had started years ago.

Thanks Again!
