I know these are bad, bad pics but they were taken at the beach with a camera phone and it was so bright I couldn't see my screen. I'm sure its some kind of little crab - I just thought he was neat and I'd share. (yes, I left him at the beach)

Sand sifting crab. They usually have them in stock with a little write up about them on Reef Scavengers, but if I recall correctly they usually do not live long in our systems.

i can't rememeber where he was, but apparently they are deep fried and eaten whole by the plateful (like french fries). well, you pull off the little legs first i guess.





i have also seen them for sale on ebay for a few bucks apiece, supposed to be good for sand stirring.

Them there are what us fisherman call Sand FLEAS down here, but whatever you want to call them, they are good bait fishing from shore......
