strange stars on my glass!!!

There are tiny star shaped, white organisms all over my glass. They are maybe a millimeter wide. they don't move but they just appeared over night. there is a small ball of mass in the center and thin, outstretched "arms".

I read a post a while ago that was similar, but i can't find it in the archives or remember if they are bad. Is my beloved tank DOOMED??!!

my camera can't focus in so small. i wish it could. I don't know if they have anything to do with the hundreds of tiny coepods skidaddling around the glass.

These guys? Most of the time they are algae grazer type, although there are some that may eat SPS corals.

They are known as Asterina stars.

not what I got, these have micro tiny legs, usually 7-8 legs, and a small body, kind look like serpent stars with more legs and very tiny about half the size of a typical led light.

The reading in the link suggests that they are not evil. The best guess is that they eat small copepods and particulate material in the water.

Hydroid jellyfish, I believe.

Have a look here:

http://reefgarden.net/id82.html

They're one of the many things that come and go in a new tank.
Got loads in my tank at about 6 weeks, by 10 weeks they'd all gone...
