well i went and got me some new test strips today just to double check everything, apparently everything is good in the tank except for the nitrates they are at 30ppm my other test strips were saying they were at 10ppm so i am going to guess that the one test strips are bad.. so i did a 5 gal WC and will do one everyday for the week to get it down then go from there, but will do as you said and only feed them every other day and see how that goes...I also think i have been skimming too dry since i got the skimmer so i turned that up a bit also, ty for your help and will let you know how it goes....

Glad to help anytime.

One more thing too. I'll bet the Nitrates are even higher than that because test "Strips" are junk and not very accurate. Get a real test kit (Like Salifert) and check them again.

well i took a sample to the LFS and the results came back the same with the liquid test also, i think the strips go bad after sitting too long after opened.. but I have one more question though, I have a Very large snail and he is only grazing on the red algae watched him last night, he moves over the green and eats the red off the rock, will the red algae hurt him??
