PLS HELP! I may have Aphipods??

I think I may have Aphipods. There are thousands of them all over my live rock. I havent seen them crawling on anything except the live rock, although for the past couple of days, I've been having problems. Our feather dusters have been acting weird. We bought 3 of them. One of the feather dusters had a very small purple one attached to the side of him and then the next day he came out of his tube and attached himself (just the duster part) in the sand and has been growing and doing good every since. Then yesterday we came home from work and one of the large featherdusters broke off from his tube and was floating around in the tank. We figured he was dead so we threw him away. Then again today the other one did the same thing. It looks like the feather part is getting broken off from the tube part. The tube is still alive and is still moving in and out. Really Weird!! Do the bugs have something to do with this? Are they bad? Someone pls help!

I'am just a rookie but to my understanding pods are good to have in you tank. As for the feather dusters, if they get stressed they will shed but grow back. If you just bought them they may have gotten stressed from the move? Someone with more knowledge will chime in soon. Good luck, here is a link on amphipods http://creatures.ifas.ufl.edu/misc/amphipods.htm

Anything but an isopod! Pods come in waves. Your fish will enjoy them while they last!

ok, slow down a sec, bad pods will have 2 visable black eyes most of the time. they also kinda resemble potato bugs.

as for the feather dusters, they will drop their plume from time to time so don't toss them if you see the feathers floating around.

Did you acclimate? The first feather I got I didn't acclimate and it died within a few days.

Yes we acclimated the featherdusters. They had been in the tank for over a month before they started acting weird. Now, the last one we have in the tank is dying too. It is coming out of his tube part. I thought they lived inside their tube and never came out. The one before this one, the feather part broke off from the body and then the body came out of the tube. I think the crab got him and then I had to pull it out of the ricorda's mouth!!Our water quality is fine!

What kind of crab? Some crabs, such as arrow crabs, don't mix well with feather dusters.
