Please ID this algae for me. I believe it is cyno

I have this velvet algae substance spreading on my rock. It is not hairy, it is smooth. It actually killed my green star polyp by covering it. Should I be concerned, if so how do I get rid of it?

Is it reddish in color? It does look like it might be cyano, even though I cannot see the color of it your description fits. You can try to siphon it out of the tank and get more flow into the areas that you see it growing in. Then you will need to figure out where your excess nutrients are coming from and start getting those brought down.
