Not sure what this is...
So I have had a 10-gallon refugium for over a month now and was raising copepods and amphipods in it. I bought some copepod cultures on eBay, but along with copepods, I have this small floating organism that has been rapidly reproducing in my tank. It's about the size of a copepod, transparent, and it looks like a tiny jellyfish. The animal spends about half its time propelling itself in the water column and the other half stuck to a surface. It looks like it has 8 or so legs (tentacles?) and small cilia that it uses to make a slow descent. I have seen that my copepod population has decreased a lot recently and that the population of these animals has boomed. Anyone have a clue what this could be?

Sounds like a Hydroid Jellyfish...have you seen them stuck to the glass? If so do they look like this?

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

I added it in edit. Just making sure it wasn't just the pods which can look like they have cillia to the naked eye.

You guys are awesome, that's much closer than anything I found It might be. Since I'm a new member, I can't post links and the pics I have exceed the max on this site. If you'd like, you can look up julianeduardo985 on the photobucket site, I have two pictures of the animals there. If they are hydroid jellyfish, are they bad?

Aiptasia will get to obviously visible size and generaly turn brown. email your pic as an attachment to one of the mods and we will post it for you.
