mystery worm

along the front of my tanks where the substrate is i've noticed a few worm trails in the sand (kinda like ant farm paths.) today i noticed the fellow making them, i've tried to get a pic, but will not come out well. its about one inch long, the thickness of a thin piece of spaghetti, and kinda of clear white slugglikeness. i do not see any hairs to lead me to believe its a hair worm.. what are some other options?
