little white hairs


hey guys my bros live rock has little white hair looking things growing on it.when we fed his fish a pice of food landed near one and it reached out and grabed it and took it into the rock.What is it and is it bad and how to get rid of it?Thanks Abe

Post some Pics. Try to get a clear and as close as you can.
Maybe a size refrence so we can all poke at the pic and might be able to tell you
Its hard to tell some one what something is with out seeing it lol.
kinda like a friend talking about a tv prog on the phone lol.

It could be a number of things, from hydroids to aiptasia to a worm. A pic would definitely help in IDing the critter.

I think this may be it, but without a good pic you just never know.

DIGITATE HYDROIDS
Digitate hydroids spread quickly and sting anything they touch, making them nasty to have in your reef tank. Too bad as it is cool to watch them bob up and down as they stretch out from the rock. I couldn't find a good pic... soooo... enjoy my drawing. LOL. They are white hairlike critters with a bulbous tip which will mostly come out at night. Sorry for the drawing.
