Identify blue/green snail please
Could someone please help me identify a snail that is in my aquarium. The shell is a beautiful shiny blue/green colour with occasional brown lines that follow around the spiral (looks really good under the lighting). The snail is black with the underside of the foot white. He has been in my tank for about 3months and is about 1.5 cms long (1/2 inch).
Here is a photo one I owned that was 5 cms (2 inch) but met an untimely end being munched by a hermit crab while on holidays ( I no longer keep any crabs for this reason)
Any help would be appreciated

Could you upload an image of the live snail please, showing operculum, mouth and antennae?

kinda looks like a Turbo. but for real serious positive ID you'd need to do what Tom asked

Actually looks like some terrestrial leaf litter snails, have you seen this snail alive in the tank?

Yes my small 2cm snail has been in the tank for at least 2 months, the photo of the dead ones shell doesnt do it justice. He cruises happily all over my tank but I can't get a good photo of its actual body

This isn't my snail but looks exactly like mine from the bottom, the top of the fleshy part is jet black though. He has thin, longish antennae. Hope this helps

Although I agree with Murdock for this image, I need more for the one you initially showed us. We will need pix of the foot from the top, the shell spiral, the opiculum, and a shot showing the morphology of the open snail from the side to give you an accurate ID, even then, such ID's are easy to do inucorrectly from images. Any chance of more pics?

Hooray, Found out that they are a type of Aussie turbo snail and I know where these can be found locally. Also the Aust. Marine Dept. stated they must be at least 7cm (2.8inch) before they are collected from the wild. Thank for your help everyone
