i am going to bet that it was eating the shrooms and not your fish. i believe it is a Eunicid worm.

Steve Weast seems to be the pro at getting these giant worms.

geoff is right, we just pulled a similar worm out of a friends tank here in mishawaka, definately an euncid sp, otherwise known as bobbit worms. The 4-5 feelers on their heads are a dead give away. Those feelers are not the parts you have to worry about, its the jaws that the worm keeps inside and spits out to feed are the ones you have to whatch out for.

uggh, Well it's gone now anyway, Looked up the worm what I read said they can get to 50 feet long is that right???

The largest known Eunice worm was about 18 feet long. Nemerteans (ribbonworms) will get up to 50 feet & longer but not polychaetes. Some Eunice will eat corals. I don't know if they prefer corals or if it's because there's not enough of their regular food.
