Horrible Red Bubble Algae

I have terrible, fast growing Red Bubble Algae in my 24 gallon Aquapod. I am unable to remove or control it. It will cover everything; water intakes, Blue Crab's shells, Rocks, walls. I remove rocks for scaping weekly and scrape the walls. The crabs won't touch it.
I don't know it's origin. Is there anything short of starting over by replacing all live rock and live sand that will rid me of this
horrible stuff? I hate to throw in the towel but I don't have much live stock; four Chromis and two Perculas who have been with me for more that a year. I don't want to give up on them!
Also, I intend to remove the Refugium chamber at the back of the tank because it's filtration system is no longer functional. The bubble algae covered the water intake vents. (I am using an external canister filter now.) Bad idea?
Any suggestions or comments? Thanks!

i had a lot of it a few months ago, i regularly picked it off as it grew... i recently bought a few Turbo snails, and literally overnight, the 5 of them have eaten almost all of it off the back glass of my 30... i expect they will turn to what is on the rocks very soon. maybe you could try one or two in your tank and see if they help? i never knew turbos would eat red bubble with this much enthusiasim... http://www.bluezooaquatics.com/produ...id=1247&cid=82

oh, to amend the above, just in case... i also got a pair of blue tux urchins... so the turbos may have gotten some help, the reason i am not sure is that the tuxes did not seem to move much the first few days but the algae was disappearing rapidly... the turbs were munching away almost immediately.... so i credit the snails with the good job.
