added a new pcs of LR to tank yesterday, There were two small round, no bigger then dime hitcher, They are flat round have spines all the way round the edge, like a urchin, none in the middle or center, They a brown colored in the center and turn to a purple towards the ends of their spines. any ideal want they may be? When I came home today I found my clown dead, he was fine yesterday and in the morning. Not sure if this is related to the hicther's. Can't post pic yet, not enought question ask yet,

Did you cure the LR before placing it in your tank? If you didnt your fish were likely caused by an ammonia spike caused by the new rock cycling, cant just add more LR it has to be cycled.

I have been trying to find a pic, but have seen noting like it. They are nocturnal, If I shine a light on them they will try to hide, After looking at them closer they have about 15 larger spines with smaller spines in between, The larger spine's are a purple color. They move like a star fish. I don't know how else to describe them, from spine to spine they are the size of a dime, My other fish all are fine, I have a puff who likes to pick at thing's and he stays away from them... I do appreciate all the help I can get in ID them. Oh if this help,s I know the LR come's from FL

Thanks for the pic,but no. The one pic big,jpg the spines look right but they are only around the edge there are no spine's in the center. They have to be some kind of star fish,,
My set up is 36 gal bow front it's been running for 23 weeks to the day,
For the past 20 weeks the SG has been 1.023, ammonia 0 nitrite 0 nitrate has gone as high as 40, but I do a water change every 3 weeks,, 10 gal so it's been holding at 30. The temp runs from 79.7 to 80.9 this is over 24 hr I test like every other day..
Stock 1, firefish 1, valentini puffer 1, pygmy angel 1, peppermint shrimp 2 cortez snail.. And I had a maroon clown may he rest in piece
Is there anything else, oh yea I did go back to the store couldn't find any on his rock and he had no clue. I hope someone can help I have looked at a ton of pic,

not sure what killed the clown and with out pictures its hard to tell what you have. so get to posting you need 20. is this a fish only tank with live rock? you need to get your nitrates down to around 10 or less. try doing 10% water change once a week.

duh, I was think I guess I should try and keep this going so I can get my 20 post.. Is there anyone from the Cincinnati area that has pod's I could buy?
Also these star fish thing's I noticed they both have found a hiding spot, and return to the same spot, Like I said they come out at night but in the morning they are back in their spot,, If I shine a light on them they make a bee line for home.

It will be interesting to see what you have, it doesn't sound big enough to kill a clown.

You may be right but I can't think of anything else, again all of the other fish are doing fine, And the clown was ok that morning he was up at the glass hoping for some food.. Some of these things are poisonous right?
Anywy they roam around when the light's are off but have been retunring to the same spot, however today I can only see one.
