Thanks for the support on the cardinal! I will find a better home for my goby. That bristleworm was munching on the hard part of my balloon coral one night, so say what they might, this guy had beady black eyes, a mouth and some serious head gear. I am GLAD HE IS GONE!

Hey! You are in Minnesota? I just dropped my daughter off to wilderness camp near gooseberry falls! I miss her! She did not go willingly!

i used to have several 8" ones in my 40g... it was pretty fun when i would occasionally feed the tank and they would come out of the rock.

If I knew so many people wanted bristle worms
If I knew so many people wanted bristle worms I could have gave some to people. I bought so live rock and OMG it was full of them, I got over 30 of them out of my tank. I wasn't trying to get rid of all of them but they were all over everything. They are pretty cool. I still have a few in my tank if I find out that I have more in there than I think I may be able to send some to some people in the future.

I have tons of little ones about 1 inch. Kinda cool cause a few have tunnels in the sand next to the glass and the pop out at feeding and grab some food then back down they go. Reminds me of an ant farm but with a reef!

You need to give that mandarin to someone whos system can support it or in the VERY near future he will die........and THEN the bristleworm will eat him. Those fish eat more than you can imagine and getting him to nibble here and there is just prolonging his agony. You are watching him starve to death. You will hardly EVER see a healthy mandarin just kickin it. They eat pods ALL day long.
Thats a 5 gallon bucket and 18" tongs for size reference.
He was my pet until he got sucked up into a mag 36...may he rest in pieces

I love that pic, saw it somewhere else recently. Makes me want to write a novel, "How to Eat Fried Bristleworms".
I like to watch them come and go from places you wouldn't think things could get into. I've got so many in my rock I'd never be able to count them all. I did find one a few weeks ago that got my attention, head coming from under one side of a rock and the backend out the other. I'd say he's about 9" at least and counting; not as fat as yours though Fly, but if he does, the ketchup is coming out

I know that bristleworms don't really do any damage unless they overrun your tank, but... but... but... they're HIDEOUS! I shudder every time I see one.
When I was a kid I had a cheap 10gallon saltwater tank with some anemones and a percula clown who I hand-fed, and I used to get immense joy out of catching bristleworms in a trap and sending them down the sink drain.
I just started a 12g NC and hope I don't find any... especially a foot-long one! I think I'd faint... !!!

Have you ever had one escape a tank and slither around the floor? They are a lot faster and nimble when they are out of water.
I've had at least one escape and take off like a shot.
