flatworms?
These things are very small, too small for my crappy dig. camera to get a shot of them. Look just like the pics I have seen of the red ones, but they are tan. Need to figure out if they are a problem, and how to deal with them. there are 8-10 of these things on the back glass of my 18 gal.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Bobby

are they a health hazard for your critters, no. are they annoying and can reach plague proportions, yes. there is a product called Flatworm Xit, or something like that. it is fairly reef safe. problems come if there are a lot more flatworms than it look, unfortunately ussually the case. when they die they can release an iodine compound which is poisonous to the tank. it is a good idea to do a lot of siphoning before hand to get as many out as you can see. have a lot of extra water on hand for a WC, and plenty of carbon to remove this compound as they die off.

I must agree. Flatworm exit works great. I used double the recomended dose and treated the tank twice. The first treatment did not kill them all even with the double dose. Siphon, Siphon and Siphon those sucker out before and during the treatment. I had not loses. I keep a mix of SPS LPS and softies. I documented exactly what I did to get rid of them so if you would like send me a pm and I will e-mail it to you.

If possible, pull your vertebrates into isolation during treatment, the byproduct of Exit treatments seems to be especially hard on fishes in general.
Then nuke the suckers with the Exit. Get a Quarantine tank, and use it for EVERYTHING WET COMING INT0 YOUR SYSTEM.

You might consider purchasing a six line wrasse ... I suspect it would make short work of a minor infestation ... mine roams the tank like jaws and anything that remotely looks like a worm, mini brittle star etc. becomes a meal.

eXit works great; heed the warnings and follow the instructions explicitly. Dead flatworms are extremely bad.
