Eradication of GSP?

So a year later I have finally gotten tired of the GSP carpet slowly taking over my live rock. I am thinking of ripping the rock out, taking a flathead screwdriver to the rock, then salting (or using a heavy brine) the rock to rid my tank of GSP in unwanted spaces.

The problem is that the stuff is on rocks which I have monti's, birdsnest and galaxia. How long can I keep those corals out of the water while working on the GSP Eradication?

Thanks - Symbiotic

as long as they dont dry out, they'll be alright, but some of them are very quick to dry (such as the birdsnest, which is bad out of water for more than about 5 minutes in most cases). if you can remove those corals from the rock, that would be best.

Could you maybe set up a large bowl or tub to be filled with SW so you could pry GSP while keeping other corals under water? I realize this would not be as easy to work as having it on a countertop, but its an option.

Did I ever tell you about the time Brasky went hunting? Well anyway, Brasky decides he's gonna hunt down all four members of the Banana Splits. He stalks and kills every one of them with a machete. They all beg for their lives, except Fleagul.

Thanks, I think I'll have good SW dip ready and use it as I work. The rock with the birdsnest has only a very small amount of GSP, so I think a quick shave and a couple ounces of Morton's (hah-hah) will do it well.

I bought a small (uses a cigarette lighter) blowtorch from Lowe's and heated them until each polyp popped (wear safety glasses). So far so good.
