curious specimens...
Im new to the reef world and have noticed a few things on the live rock that stand out. I dont think that any of these are potential problems but figured better safe then sorry and well I wouldnt mind knowing what it is, anyway. I cant good enough pictures of the rest. Im thinking a few more weeks and maybe they'll be more defined and I'll be able to get something worth posting.
Thanks for any ideas!

Hi, and welcome to TRT!!!
Looks like aptasia. A pest anemone that can over run a tank and damage corals. If it is in fact aptasia you don't want it. Don't do anything till you get some confirmation form some more folks. Removing them incorrectly can cause a population explosion.

Ok... So know Im officially worried about every little thing in the tank. I changed lights and went back to my standard light (that came with the tank) and was able to spot more potential threats. I would appreciate any advice on which ones to get rid of. They might even all be the same thing but at this point the one I just found is very small and look slightly diffrent.
I have found several at this point I beleive to be aptasia. So what is the best method of treating an entire tank. The only thing I put in the tank was the rock, sand, and fish so any treatment that wont kill the fish is good with me.
Thanks again for the help!

the first picture aptasia the second picture not sure but it looks to be a mushroom. you could try adding a pep or two but depending on what kind of fish you have or plan to have they could become shrimp cocktail.

lol... Thanks I just droppped a pepermint shrimp in there and we'll see what he does. I have things poping up all over my rocks now, but hopefully most turn out to be good ones. Knowing my luck... That wont be the case. Atleast now I have something to keep them in check. I'll be buying a few more Peps once my LFS gets them in.
Thanks for the advice.

He may eat it, hopefully. That 2nd picture doesnt look like aptaisia. I agree with a mushroom or tiny anemone of some sort, not aptaisia though.

peps can be hit or miss with them eating aptaisia i would try a couple and wait and see.
how big is the tank?
how long has it been running?
remember take your time and in the end you will be much happier with your results.

Its a 50 gallon bowfront that has been set up for a little over a week. I noticed a few things poping up (on the live rock) but only see 2 that I suspect to be this aiptasia guy. The peper got one last night! The other is in a very hard to find spot and close to where the clowns hang out. So im kinda worried that the shrimp might not venture that direction.

i would not worry about the shrimp and the clowns my pepps routinely try to take food from the mouth of my maroon clown. try to resist adding anything new to the tank at one week old your tank has a ways to go .soon you will be seeing algae blooms and the less you have in the tank the better. less nutrients being added to the tank to fuel algae.

Updated pictures of unknown
I have about 5 of this same type... When I dropped the pep shrimp into the tank, he landed on one of them and didnt seem to care about it a bit. Just though this picture is easier ot see than the previous and thought it might make it easier to tell.
Thanks.

it dosen't look like apitasia. mushroom or button polyp. that may be why the pep did not bother with it.
