Question

Can you help me ID this hitchhiker please.

Hello TRT well i would like to see if anyone could help me ID this hitch hiker, Is it a baby anemone? Here are some pictures of the little thing when it's closed and when it's open. The tentacles are clear with tiny green and pink dots on the tips and the body is of a brownish center, and how do I care for it, is it reef safe? Thank you.

here it is opened up

My tank use to have more coral and algae wouldnt really grow on the rocks but once I moved the coral to another tank and left the life rock empty of coral it seems that all the rocks got an ugly layer of algae clumps that kinda look like a carpet of grey dust bunnies on them. I was wondering if I repopulate the tank with coral would it go away on its own or would I have to remove the live rock scrub it off peice by peice to clean it before I add my new coral?

It is very hard to tell from teh pics but I would guess corynactis (Orange Ball Anemone). Do a search here and you should find more. I know I have a thread someplace.

I had several and they multiplied easily. They also never hurt any of my corals.

Take a look here. The first pics are a cold water species but the ones I had and you have are a warmer water species.

Get some more flow on the rock and some more clean up crew and it will look clean in no time.
