could be from anything electrical in the aquarium. Do you have an amp meter you can check it that way. Or when I come over monday I can check for you.

Just ground the tank. That's a bad case it mite not all go away ,but at least it will help the rest of the reef and you. Also add luquid vitamans to the seeweed(soak it in).

The muti meter needs to be digital(measuring micro volts).I beleave it's vita C but I'd use the multi. Vitamin liquids that the lfs had.

aight i looked online and this is what i came up with it........
set multimeter to 120 ac
insert ground(black probe) into ground hole on wall socket
insert positive(red probe) into tank water
read screen for any readings...
unplug electrical items untill current reads zero to find the source of the stray current....

aight i understand all that..........heres the issue.......my multimeter doesnt go to 120 ac............mine only has 200ac and highvoltage at 700ac....

i havent plugged it into the wall yet since my leads arent long enuff but using me as a ground i get 3.2 if im in the current from the powerheads or the return from the filter.....in the calmer water i read 0.5 and lower.....

if i dip both leads into the water im reading about 0.7 everywhere.......

so im guessing that any readings at all doing it that way means that i have a stray current......ow i guess i just need to get a longer probe so i can do it the other way to get a better reading??

I may look into getting a grounding probe just in case. I think that really everyone should have one. I don't..... but I should.

If you can find Selcon it has been known to help cure HLLE. I use it as a soak for the algae that I feed occasionally.
