Aptasia.... Grrrr

one of my rocks that came with my polyp pack has small aptasia all over it now. They are no where else. They are very tiny atm, I know that there are shrimp as well as things to inject in them. What is the cheapest and or easiest way to get rid of them. I know I have read a dozen threads on these but now that I have them I can't remember whats the easiest. these are so tiny IDK if I can inject anything into the stalk.... I have a slight resting hand tremor

I ordered some Joe's Juice yesterday from ebay for ~6$ shipped, supposedly you just squirt a little dab on the nem, it injestests it, and dies.

I'm in the same boat as you, my LFS has aptasia spores all over everything I buy.

Coating them with kalk paste is probably the easiest rom what Ive heard. The peppermint shrimp can be hit or mis and getting them now is the best bet.

Joe's Juice, which is basically Kalk, and Aiptasia X actually do not get injected. You drip some of the mixture on the nem and wait for eat to eat it. Once it eats it the reaction starts and it dies. You shaking hand may be able to handle that better than trying to inject them with something. Best of luck.

long term, if they keep popping up, a couple $5 peppermint shrimp do well.

I have 2 peppermints that have a big(gish) aiptasia right near their hiding spot.

They climb over it to get to the flake food.

I have the same problem...I would say take the rock out and torch the suckers because nothing really works. I have tried Joe's Juice & Kalk (both work for a few weeks, but they always come back and they seem to be bigger and stronger when they do come back), the only thing that really worked when I set the tank up I took the rock out and froze the bastages (left the rock outside for like a week in the snow).

Of course now...mine are all on bottom rocks which support my whole structure and I can't take them out...so I try the Joe's Juice and Kalk more and more...but they keep coming back...grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

My plan is to kill em off again, then get some peppermints and hope that they eat em up while they are small when they come back.

I will try the kalk first. So I have a pound of pickling lime from the grocery store and an insulin needle. How thick do you mix the kalk? I think the blowtorch method might be harmful to the zoas on the rock

I think I either need a bigger needle or thinner kalk paste. I have successfully ruined this needle. It is marked U-100 insulin only. I don't know much about needles.

Talking

I am making a big Hershey's mess out of this whole operation. After ruining the insulin needle I got a small forumula bottle for nursing a rabbit. Nothing was coming out and I squeezed. I hosed the whole tank with white lime. I tested for calcium and it was 380 so that is OK. There isn't anything else in Lime that I should be testing? kh?
