Aiptasia Control with Copperband Butterfly

I just wanted to give positive feedback from my own experience with aiptasia!

I had over 200 or more of these bad guys a few weeks ago and decided to buy a copperband butterfly fish! I have tried joes juice & several other things to get rid of them AND IT WORKED FOR A WHIE BUT THEY SEEMED TO KEEP COMING BACK...

The butterFly fish has taken 100% out of my tank! I was going to get peppermint but my fish are to big and would eat them as soon as they hit the water!

so anyone with a bad aiptasia problem I would recommend The Coppeband!

Joe

Thanks for the tip - I have a smaller tank and the peppermints worked great for me. I had the same problem with Joe's Juice, where I used it, it worked great, but it seemed like some of the dead ones must have split, because I got dozens all over the tank. (I know people love it, and I probably did something wrong, but...I wasn't going to risk it again)

I put 6 mid-sized peppermints in my 24 gallon and the aiptasia were gone within a week. I made sure to put in some mysis a half hour after lights-out and watched my shrimpies come out to feast after that They've declined in number, but I still have a couple of bigger ones.

Note: make sure you feed your copperband once he's done with the anemones. Too many starve or get taken back to fish stores.

Also: My peppermints didn't touch the one big Majano in my tank, so if Copperbands will do that, it's another advantage.

Copperbands are good but trickier to keep alive and well. Raccoon butterfly does a nice job on Aiptasia and also takes well to pecking at frozen food. The Raccoon is also hardier than a Copperband.
