Aiptasia...! and other HH.

Hi everyone. I just realized I have Aiptasia!! It came with the my LR and is slowly multiplying. Has anyone used "Blue Vet Aiptasia Control"? My LFS said it is reef safe and should quickly kill my problem.

I almost forgot. I have this weird growth on one of my rocks. I can't even begin to describe it. I will post a pic as soon as I have 20 posts. I really want to know what it is.

Unhappy

I did read that peppermint shrimp do a great job with Aiptasia, but I wanted to eventually get a fire shrimp. Can these two species of shrimp live peacefully together? Or will I have an all out war on my hands? Also, one of the aiptasia seems really large. (head about the size of a silver dollar).

I will post a picture as soon as I reach 20 posts!!!

not sure about the two shrimp coexisting together in a small tank. but any aptasia that is as big as a half dollar i would pull as much of it off and leave the rest to the pepps.

I can try to pull the Aiptasia out, but it has a really deep hole in the live rock he retracts into. Now that I am thinking about it, only one rock is really effected by the aiptasia. That same rock has the weird growth on it too. Would a fresh water bath cleanse the rock of its problems?

if its only the one rock with the problem i would just get rid of it as long as there is no coral on it that you may want.

It would be nice to just gey rid of it, but it plays a key role in my aquascaping. It there a way to rid LR of all undesirables?

im pretty sure that in a 28g the two shimp wont fight each other... still in pretty sure that in an 1 on 1, the fire shrimp would survive and the peppermint are lik 1.99 in a bait shop

Yeah, thats pretty darn cheap! They cost $8 or $9 bucks at my LFS. Fire Shrimp, on the other hand, cost $36, but they look like they would kick some peppermint butt. I think I will try one of each.

By the way, "Blue Vet Aiptasia Control" works great!! It was like pouring hot water on a snowman. Gone in seconds, but the biggest aiptasia hid in his cave, so I boiled him with burning H2O.
