If you continue to keep macroalgae in the sump (and lighting the sump), then Peppermint shrimp ( Lysmata wurdermanii ) will keep the Aiptasia spp. under control. I wouldn't feed the sump, enough food from the tank may keep the shrimp from feeding on the anemones anyway, so you will need to monitor their growth and numbers to see if the /tank feeding becomes a problem in the shrimp's predation of the Aiptasia.
Good luck; keep the Aiptasia numbers down . BTW, if you cover the Aiptasia with a small pile of kalkpaste while the current is turned off (for 1 hour), the caustic nature of the Calcium hydroxide will take care of pedal lacerations, NOT resulting in the same effect as physical removal or tweezing the anemones.

peppermint in the tank is active, and several aptasia have disappeared, but i still see a few little ones popping up... none have lasted long enough to get big (yet?). thinking of grabbing another 2 pepps... 1 more for display tank, and one for in sump, but not positive yet, lol

Just added in two peppermint about two months ago. Noticed a drastic reduction. I have actually noticed some of the larger ones disappear. However, there are two very large ones I am going to have to get rid of. I infested my tank from an infested rock that had a thick group of zoanthids on it. Couldn't see them under the zoanthids till they got bigger.

Best results for me after trying numerous predators and pastes without lasting success ... was to put a Raccoon Butterfly fish in my tank. I could barely see any live rock without brown aiptasia running wild, and now they are either eaten, or cowering in holes. Very effective little fish (barely 2 inches in length) and much hardier than shrimp.
