white sand ?


i have seen some white sand in a tank. it was very white like bleach white and was very fine or powdery does any one know what kind of sand it is

Unknown ... sand generally falls into two broad catergories .. calcium carbonate and silica based. Easy way to test is to take a small sample and place in a suitable container .. add some vinegar .. if it bubbles and starts to disolve its calcium carbonate .. if not then it silica.

It was probably Southdown or Oldcastle Playsand. As long as it is coral-based, it's OK to use in a SW tank
