Where do you guys get your equipment from
Hey all,
This may sound like a dumb newbie question but I am getting together all of my equipment for my first saltwater tank, and have a bunch of it already, skimmer, lighting, tank, stand etc..
My question is where do all you guys buy your stuff online? Locally?? I am looking for quality places as not to get screwed you know?
thanks

I have had very good luck online using Premium Aquatics, Marine Depot, Bulk Reef Supply, Drs. Foster and Smith. To be honest I have not had a bad experience with any of the reputable online vendors I have used.
I very rarely buy drygoods locally as all of our local shops suck (IMO)

Most dry goods are best bought online. I am fond of marinedepot.com, but have also purchased stuff from drsfostersmith and premiumaquatics often enough. Any of those places, or any sponsor here, should serve you well.
If you decide to buy local, just check prices vs. online and make sure you're not getting raked over.

Unfortunately, due to the economy many people are leaving the hobby, check in your area for a reef club also check craigslist or ebay also don't go for the new stuff on ebay as most of it is junk, but if you see some used stuff ask and maybe some of us can tell you about the quality.
Of course if you are one of the SOB's that got out of wall street with a huge golden parachute and are just looking to spend all that money.....buy the best and buy new

Premium Aquatics is really about the only one-stop place for a large selection of stuff. Personally I probably deal with about 12-14 different places for different stuff.

Or you could DIY like I did when I first started. Saved a lot of $$ and learned along the way also sold a lot to help off-set the cost or traded.

I go to all of the sites listed above and had no problems with any of them.
I do go to that pet place/that fish place once a month since it is only a 40 min drive away and the prices are about the same as their website. If you can ever go, do it. Awsome place and BIG.
