Well .. I did it!

After fighting with my 250watt AquaMedic Ocean light pendants I changed them out for a dual 400 watt Retro Mogals ...

I was going threw bulbs like mad! I would be replacing my HQI`s at least every 3 to 4 months .. and at 90 bucks a pop that was starting to get expensive and dang near gave up on the tank because of it. I got very tired of it so I went to my LFS and bought a Retro hood that contains 4 55 watt Actinic PC`s and 2 400 watt Mogal base Metal Halides ... and I got to say I love it!!!! and so do my coral ... They seem to LOVE the new lighting system .. I have never seen my LSP expanded as much as they are now ....

Anyhow .. I am excited about my new lighting system and wanted to share ...

Next thing you could do to make it better and cheaper is to remove the PC and put T5-HO in there.

I am thinking of doing just that ...

Can I use the same ballast? .. or is there a major difference between the PC ballasts and the T5`s?

Just to answer my own question .. ahahahahaha

yes the ballasts will interchange to T5`s .. so .. I am good there ... Still haveing electrical problems .. but the LFS I bought it from is working wonderfully with me on the issue .. (I LOVE BIRDWORLD, Bountiful Utah! (Sorry about the plug!)) ...

Whether the ballast will work with PC's and T5'es depends on the ballast. Some will, some won't. Just don't want someone else reading this thread and thinking that any PC ballast will run T5'es.

Good luck with the new lights and you won't be disappointed if you change it over to T5'es from the PC'es.
